Volunteer Thursday 22nd March 2012
The Railshed with the scaffolding removed.
As you can see, the building is coming along very nicely. The new windows have been fitted to the side doors, the new skylights have been fitted, and the painting is nearly complete. The inside side doors that slide are currently being repaired by Mick Monks and should be up in the next couple of weeks.
The rear doors of the shed are something not many people see. But they are there. Well, were there. They were rotten, and in disrepair. Mick built two new ones, and had this weeks volunteers help him take the old ones down, and put some new ones up.
From left to right, Brett, Elwood and Brandon.
Brett and Brandon are two of our learners who progressed through Youth East and Youth Works at the Training Centre, and Elwood has been volunteering here under an intiative set up by his school to get him some work experience. They have been volunteering here for some time now, every day they can, and as a show of the Projects appreciation, they were today presented with a small starter tool kit including a saw, tape measure, adjustable spanner and other basic tools they will need when they go on to their apprenticeships. Brett and Brandon are due to enroll on Marine Apprenticeships next week and Elwood soon after for a Construction Apprenticeship. Congratulations to all three of them.
