Kath has lived in the Harwich area since 1981 and has been active on community issues throughout her time here. In recent years she has been extensively involved in the Prince's Trust and the Youth Offending Service as well as being a school governor in Harwich.

Kath has been instrumental in aligning The Harwich Mayflower project with various Community Service schemes and the use of associated labour to assist in Project work.
